Demystifying the Funeral Experience

2 FREE CEU Credits 2-hour presentation entitled Demystifying the Funeral Experience: The Role of the Funeral in the Grief Process.

Dignity Memorial® funeral service providers are committed to educating caregivers about the funeral profession so that they can help ease the burden of decisions that need to be made by families as the end of life approaches. For this reason, we have developed a course entitled Demystifying the Funeral Experience: The Role of the Funeral in the Grief Process. We will present the course on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 2:00 pm. You are invited to join us virtually or in person at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive. Please RSVP to [email protected] to receive a virtual link and Participation Packet to print out and use throughout the presentation.

This FREE 2-hour presentation will offer two contact hours of continuing education for all hospice professionals, clergy, and social workers. Reg Ecker will present an informative seminar designed to familiarize all who work with families with funeral customs, options, procedures, and regulations. The program will also provide participants with a better understanding of the emotional benefits of funerals. The two-hour presentation includes a half-hour tour of a funeral home, and time is allotted for questions.

We believe that by helping educate you about the funeral provider’s role in caring for families, we can remove barriers and dispel myths about the funeral industry, help you in your mission to provide grief outlets for families, and provide families with a more seamless transition into the final stages of end-of-life care.

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

• Recognize the benefits of funeral rituals and their importance to survivors.

• Discuss the function of the funeral within the grieving process.

• Describe the steps in the funeral process, including timeframes for each step.

• Identify the Funeral Director’s role and the resources a Funeral Director can provide.

• Communicate to families basic information on funeral options and costs.

• Offer families objective information to assist them in funeral preparation and planning.
