Sharpen your quills: Writing conference returns to West Valley

Writers of all genres and experience are welcome to The Pre-Quill Conference to be held Saturday, April 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center, 1355 W.3100 South.

The annual writing conference, sponsored by the League of Utah Writers, aims to help anyone grow confidence in their writing. The league, a nonprofit that strives to empower writing and publishing for Utah writers, is offering a limited number of full scholarships to the conference for West Valley City residents. 

Scholarships are provided on a first-come basis and will require input of a West Valley City address at registration. Residents can use code “ULIWV4F” at registration to apply.

This year’s keynote speaker will be David Rodeback, the League of Utah Writers 2025 Writer of the Year. Rodeback will be joined by presenters from the Utah writing community to teach classes on creation, craft, editing and professional development. 

Teen writers ages 14 and up are welcome. Ages 14 and 15 must attend with a parent or guardian while 16 and up can attend alone.

• Creating Your Author Newsletter - Jodi L. Milner
• Mythology Using Fanfiction - Shauna Brock
• Not Your Mother's Short Stories - Terra Luft
• Bringing Your Vision To Life - Rachael Bush
• Paths to Publishing - Candace J. Thomas
