Four elected officials for West Valley City took oaths of office during a ceremony Jan. 5 at City Hall.

Mayor Karen Lang, Councilmember Scott Harmon from District 2, Councilmember Cindy Wood from District 4, and Councilmember at-large Lars Nordfelt all were sworn in by City Recorder Nichole Camac. Each was elected in November, and all are incumbents.

“It is always an honor to be part of this city and this community of leaders,” Lang said. “I love living in West Valley City, and we have much to be proud of. I’m excited for our future and I’m looking forward to this coming year.”

Students from the American Preparatory Academy, performing as the Sistema Strings, began the ceremony by playing the national anthem. City Manager Ifo Pili then gave some opening remarks prior to the ceremony.

Attendees then enjoyed refreshments and socializing. The council meets the second and fourth Tuesdays each month at 6:30 p.m. in the council chambers. Agendas are published in advance on the city website at wvc-ut.gov.
