As the new year began, a number of appointments or reappointments to citizen committees were approved by the West Valley City Council.
Mayor Karen Lang was reappointed to the West Valley Housing Authority Commission for a two-year term. Also reappointed to the commission for four-terms were councilmembers Tom Huynh, Don Christensen and William Whetstone, all who were reelected to their council posts in November.
Christensen was also reappointed to the Board of Trustees of the South Salt Lake Valley Mosquito Abatement District.
Karin Toone has been appointed a member of the West Valley City Clean and Beautiful Committee for a four-year term. Council also appointed Gabbi Arias-Vargas to the same committee for a four-year term.
Darrick Porter was reappointed by the council to a four-year term on the West Valley Planning Commission, and Renee Layton was appointed to the same commission for a two-year term. Janice Fisher was also reappointed to the Board of Trustees of the Magna Mosquito Abatement District.
Other appointments will be forthcoming. Of particular interest will be the selection of a new city manager in the next few weeks. Wayne Pyle retired last year and applicants are in the process of being interviewed for consideration.λ
