History’s ‘Traveling Treasures’ roll through West Valley’s Zions Bank

Fourth-grade students from Rolling Meadows Elementary participated in various stations where they saw a few rare treasures from the Natural History Museum of Utah’s 1.6 million object collections.

Students from Rolling Meadows Elementary, where the fourth grade is learning about Utah history this year, saw various pieces from the Natural History Museum of Utah in January. The museum’s Traveling Treasures exhibit follows a geologist’s journey in Utah and around the world to collect dazzling minerals.

Rolling Meadows students look at a collection of shimmering orbs. The collection was donated by Ruth Waldo in 1970. Sculpted by a dentist named Arthur Leroy “Doc” Inglesby, the orbs were found by miners which Inglesby then bartered for by fixing their teeth.

Fourth-grade students from Rolling Meadows Elementary listened to various archaeologists and curators from the Natural History Museum of Utah at Zions Bank in West Valley City. The museum is celebrating its 50-year anniversary in 2019 and Zions Bank has partnered with the Museum for the past 24 years to bring the Museum and its collections to its financial centers in diverse communities throughout the state.
